PROPOSED EXTENSION OF THOMPSONS ROAD THROUGH OAKWOOD

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

We have been advised that VicRoads is proposing to extend Thompsons Road through the right hand side of the Meadows - effectively destroying all agistment paddocks, hay shedding, feed/tack shedding, the new outdoor arena, the cross country paddock and jumps and potential hay pasture.

We need YOU to voice your DISAPPROVAL/OPPOSITION by cut/pasting and emailing the proforma letter below to the included email addresses.

ACT NOW !!

Dear Sir

I am writing to oppose the proposed extension of Thompsons Road, though Oakwood Riding School, in Clyde North.

Oakwood Riding School is a NOT FOR PROFIT organisation that was established in 1958 – it is considered to be the oldest horse riding school in Victoria if not the country.  The School, only 5 years ago relocated to their new 100 acre property in Clyde North, to continue to provide the community with tuition to riders from 8-80 years old (from all over Melbourne), as well as employment for over 15 local residents.

The school has been designed to deliver first-rate facilities for equestrians of all ages, levels and disciplines and because of its dedicated volunteer Committee, the School can now boast a large indoor arena/stabling complex, two outdoor arenas, multiple shedding, fencing, established pasture, and permanent cross country course .   The school is self-funding; self-sufficient and does not rely on any government funding or support.

I cannot stress highly enough, my disappointment in this decision and demand that you can find an alternative route that would allow us to keep this precious community –based resource intact.

Yours sincerely
