Eleanor Cheeseman

Elle is our Lead Stable Hand here at Oakwood.  With 50 horses on agistment and 18 school horses on site, Elle is very busy feeding, rugging, caring for and cleaning up after horses!

How long have you worked for Oakwood?
1 year.
What does a typical day look like for you at Oakwood Riding School?
I am, proudly, a slave to the horses!  Feeding, rugging, cleaning paddocks, attending to horses with vets, chiros, physios, dentists and farriers.  I also manage the stable hand team here at Oakwood.
What about your horses?
I have 4 horses at the moment.
Chloe, my WB x TB dressage mare
Jasper, my TB showing / dressage gelding.
Jules, my OTT TB that is both a capable dressage and show jumping horse.
Hitch, my very first horse!  He is a standardbred, and now is happily retired.
What do you do outside of your work at Oakwood?
More horses!  Training, caring for and competing with my horses.
What do you like most about Oakwood?
Dunkin (the cat). :)

Stable Hand

Emily Spano

Emily is a Stable Hand at Oakwood.  She somehow manages to balance her school commitments and equestrian pursuits with her work at Oakwood, feeding and caring for the agisted horses on the property.

How long have you worked for Oakwood?
Since October 2018.
What does a typical day look like for you at Oakwood Riding School?
I generally work on the weekends at Oakwood, feeding out and rugging agisted horses, making up feeds (Epic!), and bringing in school horses and tacking them up ready for their lessons.  Of course there's always poo to pick up as well!
What about your horses?
I have a warmblood gelding called Wartrak.  His stable name is Vincent.  I train and compete with him in both dressage and showjumping.
What do you do outside of your work at Oakwood?
I am currently in year 12 at School, so there is quite alot of work to do.  The rest of my time is spent riding and competing with Vincent.
What do you like most about Oakwood?
I love feeding the horses & caring for their welfare.
